In anticipation of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of St. John's canonization.
The XIII Annual Lenten Retreat at Holy Virgin Cathedral will be a very special one. This year on the feast of Saint John of Shanghai & San Francisco (Saturday, June 29, 2024) we are marking the 30th anniversary of his canonization — our retreat will be a preparation for this jubilee. Many details about Vladika John, one of the greatest and most beloved saints of the XX century, and his teachings will be available in English for the first time. As well, – a film with over 10 minutes of historical footage of Saint John himself will be shown.

Fr. Stefan is the Western American Diocese's best story teller. His mother, Novice Maria, personally knew many of the great founding hierarchs of the Russian Church Abroad, including St. John. Fr, Stefan also knows and has preserved in his heart the incredible spiritual legacy of Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary in Jordanville, where he studied and labored for 5 years. We are grateful that he has agreed to share some of his living memories with us.
